The Lion’s Club is taking orders for the Rose and Carnation Sale. Roses are $20 a dozen, Carnations are $10 a dozen. You can order your flowers from a Lion’s Club Member or at Scholl Insurance. A portion of the proceeds will help with the Polo Chamber Movies in the Park.

Horse and Carriage Rides will be provided by Cargill Carriage Rides as well during the Santa’s Breakfast. In the evening enjoy the Festival of Tree Lighting at 6:00 pm at the Louise Quick Park and the Polo Senior Center. End you evening by heading on over to the Polo Library to see the movie “Polar Express”. Join the Polo Police Department for the first “National Night Out” event on August 6th from 5 pm-8 pm in the 100 block of E. Colden Street near the police and fire departments. The event is held nationally by public safety agencies and began in 1984 as an effort to promote involvement in crime prevention activities, police-community partnerships, and neighborhood camaraderie. Polo Fire Department, Polo Ambulance, the Illinois State police, and the Department of Natural Resources will also be partnering with Polo Police Department at the event. Each agency will have equipment on display and there will be activities and games, including face painting and temporary tattoos for the kids.
